Hoje, 25 de julho, é celebrado o Dia da Mulher Negra Latino-americana e Caribenha, data criada durante o I Encontro de Mulheres, em Santo Domingo, na República Dominicana, como marco internacional da luta e resistência da mulher negra.
No Brasil, a data também homenageia Tereza de Benguela, líder quilombola de Quariterê, em Mato Grosso, reconhecida por sua luta contra o racismo e a estrutura patriarcal do século 18.
Além de luta e resistência, a data representa a urgência em dar visibilidade às pautas e políticas públicas necessárias para mulheres negras terem pleno acesso a oportunidades e dignidade, pois são as mais impactadas por crises sociais e econômicas. A população negra, no geral, incluindo jovens, homens e mulheres, é a mais penalizada por essas crises, mas as mulheres negras sofrem impacto ainda maior.
A ADUFSCar reforça a importância do dia 25 de julho, para que possamos debater e avançar na conscientização por uma sociedade justa, democrática e sobretudo, antirracista.
